Call for help to Romanian warsowians - Warsow eskool experiment

Hello to all,

as you may know, I'm working as IT human resource in a french high school, and currently building an ambitious project of introducing ethical esport in schools as a perfect pedagogic tool. See my last news for more details.

Here at my place, since early 2004, Warsow always played a big role in the dynamic and success of our computer-lab. I'm currently trying to enlarge this experiment by organizing, during the last wednesdays afternoons before summer vacation, friendly and unformal esport online meetings, gathering my pupils and pupils from other schools all around Europe.

Last wednesday, we unfortunately missed a first date with a romanian secondary school(Colegiul Technic Energetic Dragomir Hurmuzescu, located in Deva, Hunedoara county). Despite all our effort, the network administrator and the teacher I'm in contact with didn't succeed to install Warsow on the school network (new computers with Intel chipsets running on XP), due to the infamous "failed to load opengl32.dll" message error.

The network administrator doesn't speak english nor french, that's why am looking for romanian speaking persons of Warsow community, with few technical skills and a bit of freetime to help. The job is about to get in contact with the network administrator, by mail or instant messaging, and to drive him step by step in order to fix the installation problem. So as you can see, the task is not really difficult, but still, any help will be highly appreciated.

So please, contact me as soon as possible, on IRC or by mail (solomonk@warsow.net).
Thanks a lot for your attention, and big thanks in advance for your support.

Regards,

Solomonk - Warsow owner/founder

- Weblogging, instant messaging, video sharing, online gaming, etc. The new territories of digital native's generation are until now hardly shaped by parents, school, educational authorities.

- Common decency, respect and civicism in social networking are major strategic challenges and stakes for educational authorities and institutions.

- Until now, electronic sports is growing without seriously taking in consideration ethics, nor pedagogic purposes.

- Like real sports, electronic sports could, and should, turn into a powerfull educational tool, about respect, self-accomplishment, self-consciousness.

Since 2003, I'm working as IT human resource in a french secondary school. I'm leading the computer-lab, where videogame always played a big role. Videogame not only works like a charm as a powerfull barrier breaker and a funny social activity, it's also an outstanting opportunity for pupils to discover various activities such programming, level editing, 3D modeling, etc.

I'm currently working on a big project aiming at developping e-sport in secondary schools, which main goals are :

- To bring ethics and educational into esport.
- To promote and teach respect and sportsmanship over the web.
- To use esport as a perfect "learn to live together" platform.
- To build an International School Esport Federation.

Here's the new link to the documentation of the project :
http://docs.google.com/Presentation?id= … 78c984chcw
Or .pdf version :
http://www.chasseurdebots.org/eskool_re … on_0_1.pdf

I'm highly looking for teachers, computer-labs managers, educational people from secondary schools, interested in joining the experiment.
This experiment, aiming at being as basic as possible, is simply about to organize unformal and friendly online esport meetings during wednesdays afternoons, in order to validate theories, gather as much feedback as possible and complete the whole documentation's projet.

Big thanks in advance for your help in spreading this information to all persons who might be interested by the project. Feel free to contact me by for more details or any questions : solomonk@warsow.net.
It is also a very good alternative to contact me on eTwinning Portal.

Kind regards,

Fabrice demurger, Warsow founder/owner
