Studder in game, not while speccing
Alright so I have a problem that looks similar to an exaggerated
version of screen tearing that you'd get when you turn vsync off in
some games. There aren't any FPS drops, and it's not lag because
it's local as well, but it's a weird stuttering effect that happens
when I move or turn. I've tried dumbing down the settings to next
to nothing and have had the same problems. I've tried everything
and I'm not sure how to fix this.
There were no problems prior to updating to the newest version either, and viewing the game through spec through someone elses viewpoint works fine.

it could depends on how much ppl are playing at the same time on
server
sounds like prediction could be disabled somehow but I'm not sure
The problem was resolved after reinstalling the drivers for my
video card (not updating, just reinstalling). What makes no sense
is that if I was on a server and spectating someone, they wouldn't
chop or stutter at all. It would look perfectly normal. The only
time I had a problem was if I was flying around in spec, or moving
around through my own POV in game. Obviously I couldn't test this
on offline game, but when I watched through the eyes of others it
looked normal. It's normal now, but that was very strange.
Welp, I was wrong. The game continues to do it. The only thing that
seems to make it go away is playing the game fresh off a complete
system restart. I've tried everything I can think of and nothing is
working. I don't understand what the problem is. I played for a few
hours last night and I could actually see the stutter gradually
appear throughout the course of the evening. It doesn't matter the
map, or the server, or if I have programs running in the background
or not. It's just the game itself.
what's your operative system (32b or 64b?) ? and what's your video
card ? just as information
Windows 7 32 bit. ATI Radeon 5770. Like I said though, this was not
a problem in previous versions.
try gl_ext_vertex_buffer_object 0 (+ vid_restart)
that sounds like a driver bug if simply restarting warsow doesn't remove the stuttering..

That doesn't help. Still has the stutter. I also have another
problem where I start the game and it goes to a black screen, and I
have to start task manager to be able to see anything.
How have so many things gone wrong between .5 and .6?

Alright, well so much for the help in the help/troubleshooting
forum.

Not sure how quoting a thread on ESR where most people have a firm grasp on why your game is overall failing is somehow an "epic win" but yeah sure let's just ignore a glaring problem in the most up-to-date version of your game and instead focus on problems that have been brought up again and again to you and your team while you sat with your fingers in your ears.
you seem to be the only person experiencing this "glaring" problem.
anyway, this problem seems to be too complex for a bunch of
complete idiots to solve.
That could be because so few people are actually playing the game.
I mean that. If there isn't a large enough playerbase, and I'm
willing to bet that the amount of people playing in NA have dropped
off by like 75%, then you're not going to see these kinds of
problems cropping up enough. That isn't/wasn't the point of this
thread though and you can thank yourself for derailing it.
Maybe you're just not reading what people are writing, or you aren't seeing the writing on the wall, but you have lost a lot of players in this game, and it's only shrinking more with every "update". If you want to pick a fight (which clearly you do because I didn't post anything on here about the game other than my technical problem) then you're barking up the wrong tree because who plays this game isn't my problem; the stuttering and unplayability of your client is.

I'll post a test .exe for you later, maybe it'll fix your problems.
Or maybe not.
Do you know what it might be? The strangest thing about it is that
it's only when I'm playing or freelooking in spec. I thought it
might be a rendering issue because it's only when I'm hopping
around, but like I said when I specced someone else it was smooth.
I'm just trying to figure out what angle you're approaching the
problem from.
