Back with some new stuff!

Hey guys! It's been a while I know but now I'm lurking around this forum since 2 weeks or so. Last time I tried to organize something cup-wise for War§ow was in late Spring 2011 with the PROMOD-Cup which ended in a disaster because not enough players had signed up after two sign-up periods and I had lost interest in organizing tournaments and in War§ow in general. But I guess I simply can't let go off the masterpiece War§ow is :/. Now I'm back and want to start doing something for this game and it's small but awesome community!

I've drawn some conclusions from the cups I hosted during late 2010/early 2011 and found out that it mostly didn't work out as I wanted because of two major factors:


1st Me being too optimistic and eager about what my cups should have become
2nd Me carrying too much about what people said which led to rules- and mappool-changes with almost every cup



This time however I think that I could reach a bit more with my coming cups. I've decided to host something I would like to call "Qucky Cup" (I think there were some cups with this idea hosted in the past by some other people [inane?]). These cups will be run by me in irregular intervals and will consist of a Single Elimination Bracket for up to 16 players (I would be satisfied even if only 4/8 players showed up). I plan to host these cups on Saturdays, however this depends on how my schedule for school and work will look and how much motivation I have left. I will announce the cup at least one day before trough IRC or trough this forum. The sign-ups for the cup will open two hours before the cup-start at 16:00 CEST (15:00 GMT) and the check-ins will start one hour before the cup (17:00/16:00 CEST/GMT) and will last until 17:50 (16:50). During the cup only Bo3 will be played (even in the finals). Picking order for the maps is decided by cointoss and then picked by pick-pick-drop-drop-pick. The mappool is a rather experimental one with only two "old/standard" maps and three "new" maps (you can find the maps at the bottom of this post in the Spoiler called "Mappool"). The main idea behind this cup-series is to give active duelers the opportunity to have a fun (Saturday) evening playing War§ow without much organizational work and without much stress. !!! 1st War§ow Quicky Cup on Saturday 08.10.11 18:00 CEST !!!

Guys, as I already mentioned in my first post, the first War§ow Quicky Cup was coming at you fast, and now I'm happy to announce that War§ow Quicky Cup #1 is going to happen this Saturday, the 8th of October 2011 at 18:00 CEST (17:00 GMT)! The sign-ups for this cup will open tomorrow at 16:00 CEST (15:00 GMT) and you will be able to join the tournament until 17:50 CEST (16:50 GMT), I decided to remove the check-ins since I believe they are unnecessary because if you only can sign-up two hours before I think, you most certainly know that you will be able to play two hours later. So no check-in only sign-up until 10 minutes before the tournament starts. Everything else remains the same (mappool, tournament-system, match-format). I would like to ask you to read the official rules first before signing-up to the cup (LINK) and make sure you have the custom maps used in the cup (you can find them all packed up in one zip HERE)!

I wish all participants good luck and hope for a nice kick-off event!

The picking order is "Drop-Drop-Pick-Pick". One of the players calls out a cointoss by typing in "/cointoss heads" or "/cointoss tails" in the console. The winner of the cointoss drops the first map, then the the looser drops one map and picks the first one to be played, then the first player picks the second one. If after two maps it's 1:1 the last map remaining will be played as a decider.

Is it possible to delay the schedule by two more hours? The check-in time would mean I would have to get up at 6am in the morning.

Sorry, but I don't think that I can do that. Moving the tournament start by 2 more hours would mean that ideally we would be done with the tournament at 22:30 (It's more likely that it will be quite a bit later) and that's a bit late for me, sorry. But if you want you can sign up and I will auto-check in for you. You only would have to be online at 18:00 CET (from what I get this would be 7:00 am for you right?).

LuGia is propably busy with his reallife like band practise n stuff like this but he could be keen on playing it just if someone would tell him about this cup, and I can do that on facebook :P
