first GB was OP, then RG, then PG, now MG. How can everything be "Overpowered". this word is now starting to lose its power in this community :)

whats with the attitude? what have you done "for the community"? ok maybe you have done something, but maybe viigo has, too, and you just dont know. meanwhile you do your share to piss the community off with your rants. just reflecting, not judging. and by rants i dont mean giving your oppinion on gameplay etc. while everyone is entitled to his opinion, the first part is offtopic, and the way you voice your oppinion has often become more and more rude, imho, like in the second part. maybe i just dont get the joke, tho, or you dont. dunno, lol

Of course this isn't Quake Live, but you can learn a lot from looking at the competition. :) Both the GB and the MG are 2 of the weapons i cant really get my head around why they are SOO strong.

And I also know i've said this many times before. Weapons should be unbalanced to a certain point. If we wanna keep the MG at about 7 dmg per bullet. Then I think RL should do atleast 100 dmg to balance it out (etc etc).

But I know my oppinions doesnt really matter. The weapons are OK, it's playable and people are used to them. It's just nice to get stuff of your chest at times. And maybe, just maybe someone will notice what you say and stuff gets changed. Overtime.

And btw, haven't mg only been around since 0.5? I didn't play prior to 0.5 so I don't really know.

what have you done "for the community"?


I've done those guides for new players and that one mapping guide, but not much else, but that's why I don't act here like I was VIP person and anything more than a normal guy.
Point is that its annoying that they come here to tell devs what to do, as if they were persons who were way superior to everyone else. This egoism in gaming communities in general pisses me off too.

This is why when I suggest something, I try to write good arguments for it and discuss about it in a friendly manner...

But I have to say that I myself find MG pretty fun to use, and for me it increases the fun-factor of the game. Sure, some others might not like it, but I have to disagree that MG would be strong enough to make harm to the competitive side of the game. It's not THAT powerful.

lets see, is that a good argument? its more of a hypothesis or a antithesis. tongue wrote that it is powerfull in close combat and he wrote why. you still need to underline your arguments.
maybe it is, that most weapons are more powerful in close combat. except weak lg, weak lg sucks in pretty much every situation with a moving target.

sorry if i sound like i wanna patronize you, i just hate all the fruitless flamming.

tongue's arguments are excellent and he's pretty good at saying his opinion and writing his thought. No problem there. It's viigo's and Overactive's attitude that pissed me off..

I never said anything about nerfing or removing mg from the game. Just from the TDM maps. Actually the only gametype were mg is a real problem is TDM. It just fucks everything up and makes TDM a 1 weapon game.

Hey hey,

so i've always read this article but never really bothered to post :P anyhow i'm definitely not gonna agree with daxio's point of view.

edit: Sure the weapons could be better balanced, like maybe indd let GB/MG be starterweapon's but having both decreased dmg (like in QL). Though as long small maps like dm3,5,2,6 etc are still played in duel. I wouldn't think about nerfing GB/MG for duel, decreasing GB/MG will make the game soooo 1-sided from the very first second a person is in control. Which is imo also the reason why bigger maps > smaller maps, you wont get spawnraped (if spawnpoints are well-placed).


But what I reallllyyy was wondering, has there ever been any thought of adding footstep sounds? I was/am a huge fan of bigger maps in duel like wdm12/14/cwdm3/ ... because the gameplay is more slowed down, less spawnraping, and escape possibilities.

However think about it, adding footstep sounds will add a slight different touch to how you play the game and move towards your enemy because now you'll KNOW/HEAR that the enemy is still behind the corner strafing like an idiot or did he actually used the WALK button to get slowly away :) sure its not a gamebreaker but i think its worth testing if there is the chance for it?

...or am i the retard now for not knowing that this already has been discussed? And sorry for bumping this topic :P

PS: Bigger knockback on LG (:D :D)!!1 Stay off the autohop and let it be, it would only add frustration that you misclicked.

P.s. As for the last part I still think that wasow has really low knockbacks for every weapon. It is boring to hit 2-3 rockets to the enemy and having little reaction from his model. Imho stun could be replaced by the higher knockbacks. Mb sometime i'll try to make my own mod.. I've got some ideas how to make wsw simpler for newbies and more enjoyable for pros..
