Bring Warsow back in the ESL
Hey Guys,
I thought why wsw isnt played in the ESL anymore?
I would really like it if some people of the warsow communtity would engage (i try it for sure, too) to bring wsw back to the ESL.
i would really enjoy it when we could play in Cups of the ESL, that would be more competition for people who like it.
(And i think that would make warsow more popular, too)
Please post it what u think about, but say it if u dont like the idea ,too :)

i think esl has removed warsow due to lack of any activity in
ladders/lack of cups
esl site is pretty fail imo, why we should care for it? i remember
trying to join some warsow tournee some years ago but site was too
shit, couldn't figure anything out, got bunch of random errors and
just gave up.

+1
and not only once
from 4 cups i was about to play i got it managed to join in 1
Imo it's better to try to bring it back to clanbase then. When 0.7
is released I believe it is pretty possible

ESL is the biggest gaming-league in the world and much more
important for eSports than ClanBase. But it's gathered towards
games that are active and have a big community (like CS:S, SCII,
LoL aso.). I don't think that bringing Warsow into the ESL is
really that much of a help for this game. Instead we should try to
promote the game independently. ClanBase btw. has the most
shittyest website I've ever seen in terms of design/functionality,
even worse than esl.eu.
ESL does a lot of good things and has great production of their
streams, good casters, etc... but I have to agree, their site is
awful.
IMHO Warsow doesn't need to try to get in leagues. Ideally, Warsow would have its own built-in ladder. I can dream, right? :D

Ideally, yes, and for long term I think it's better to develop
these features straight to warsow.net

developer sad! :D
Yes the ESL site was (and still is) unnecessarily complicated
though as a player in a Tournament all you have to do is click 2
buttons which when I ran cups with BelliCus we did for you because
of the complexity of navigating through 2 buttons and an empty
Score box seemed too much for the average participant. Either way
that's in the past now.
Surprisingly people still see sites like ESL and CB as some sites not worth our time when really aren't we not worth their time? We're a tiny community and you can't make ludicrous demands or complain at every little thing that you don't like. Warsow is not exactly booming with activity nor is there a steady stream of fresh blood downloading the game and populating the game.
If you do want Warsow back in ESL I would suggest getting in touch with the appropriate people and hope there's 2 or 3 people willing to work on administrating the Warsow section who can deal with all these prima donna personalities who don't realize how small Warsow is in this gigantic pool of small community games.
To give you a simple explanation on how ESL works (Which is really damn obvious):
Ladder activity translates to Cup interest (Unless the admins are explicitly making these happen themselves) and if both are consistent and competitive that will eventually translate into much more resources being put into that game. More competition, more attention (think advertising on ESL front page. BNLX/Nordic/DE etc sections) and more appealing coverage (Maybe eventually end up on ESLTV?)
Tl;dr = If you want leagues to pick up Warsow, be part of the competition and keep it alive and active on those sites once they do pick this game up again.

I think it's a good idea but the problem might be the lack of
interest from the scene

I believe it's better to use CB and ESL just for the sake of catching strangers' eyes.
Sticking to tourney.cc and that stuff is nice but it'll only attract (by itself) the same people who've always come browsing the forum or even the IRC channels that get spammed.
//edit
Like Daxio said the interest from the scene may be one of the bigger problems. Find some willing (and capable) admins and hope they can talk some sense into the player base.
