Applying textures to a model
Hey guys, i've been trying to add a texture to the model i've made
in maya. There i've made an unwrap and applied the texure so that
works so after that i exported it to an .obj file and put it inside
the basewsw/models/owndir/ and same goes for the texure wich is an
.tga
now i can load the model into radiant wich looks like this:

But the problem is that i don't know how to get the texture working in radiant/warsow.
I tried using the search on forums but nothing came up so could someone give me a hand with this. Would be much appreciated :)

the .obj format doesn't contain texture information. It goes in the
obj_material file. There are tricks to apply a texture but it's a
mess. I always found simpler to use ASE or LWO formats.
The easiest one is ASE. Get the actorX plugin, I hope there is one for your version of Maya.
Try here:

or

For exporting ASE you have to launch actorX from the Maya command line by typing "axmesh" (without quotes). It will export the full paths to the bitmap files you applied in Maya. You can open the ASE file as a text file and easily change them there to Warsow relative paths.
EDIT: If you don't launch it from cmd line you get the PSK (unreal-player-model) format exporter, not the ASE one.

:) thx, i had to download maya 2011 for it because ActorX doesn't
have a 2012 version, but after going through the trouble of version
issues with the plugin and my model's file itself i got it
working.

the rest i think i can figure out myself (with the shaders and stuff) by looking at existing files. thx again :)

zis lamp eats sooo much fps!!!
just kidding, looks good, but add a nice gloss map and per-pixel-lighting to the shader

almost forgot, but this is the endresult of a one week "vacation"
of 75 hours of hard labour :s

i'm happy to share my work if anyone's interested in anything you see btw

beautiful, looks like a good mix between realism and cartoonism.
<3 that plant in the center of the picture! so natural...
thanks :)
about the bomb map im not sure yet, it was for a school project. tho i'd like to use the models and part of the textures for a future warsow map. if you want to use the models for warsow yourself that would be fine too, but i don't have my account info for svn anymore so i can't put em in myself.
