Help a Blender Newbie!
Hi there. I'm a newbie around here, but I've been playing the game
for about a year now.
I have a question for you seasoned veterans. How do you import the Warsow md3 models into Blender? I know of a few tutorials out there, but most of them are either insufficient or outdated. Is there such a md3 exporter/importer for Blender 2.6x/2.5x? All I can find are for 2.4x, and then even then most of them don't work.
For some devs who might be reading, are you going to update your models to md5? Or some other format that's accessible? I know it's different, but I found Half-Life easier to mod than Warsow, and I thought Warsow was open-source! I also had a look at the SDK, and there were a few tools for Maya, and one for 3DSMax, but none for Blender. Devs, if you're reading, then please, help your open-source breatherens!
Sorry if this is a stupid question.
Thanks!

0.7 gonna use new model format (not md* but IQM interqake model
format)
if u want to work with models you have to get old blender that works with the plugins/scripts .. it can be pain in tha ass

The first major change is that we've switched the model format we use for skeletal animation: SKM/SKP is gone, IQM is in. The reasons are quite simple: SKM isn't used anywhere outside Warsow, it's an obscure and barely supported tools and exporters wise format.
Sorry, if you really want md3 then you have to jump between the blender versions .... or try maya/3ds.

Then I can't wait for o7. For all I know, apparently it's slightly
more widespread. Can someone please point me to a link for an md3
plugin that imports to Blender 2.49? Or at least some other
version, but please tell me which Blender you're using. I kinda
need this by tommorow.
Thanks guys!
Thanks guys!

Google is your friend...
Good website for learning quake related stuff:
http://www.katsbits.com/
Blender archive:
http://download.blender.org/release/
Always use the version noted with the plugin/script
Import tutorial with python script at icculus:
http://icculus.org/~phaethon/q3/md3import/md3import.html
Important!!! Lol make sure you have python installed. Most of the times you need older python version. This is the main reason why these scripts magically don't work. See the README included with the tool
As I noted before, it can be very frustrating to get md3 import/export work and if u got it working with blender don't change anything lol

Hurrah! I got it, and it's all thanks to you all! Just in case
someone else decides to have a problem just like mine, I'll post
what I did.
First, I import my reference md3 model through Blender 2.49b with this:
http://xreal.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/xreal/trunk/xreal/blender/
I used the 2.49 md3 importer.
I save it, and then go to Blender 2.62 (I took sometime getting used to the new UI. I'm not going back to 2.49 just to get used to the old one again!). Then I go to kind Mr. Wonko's plugin:
http://www.mrwonko.de/home/
There. Then I export it, put it into the appropriate places... Blah, blah, blah!
Thanks people!
