i think you forgot about w.i.n.e.
most of the important games of the last years work iirc, but then they might crash as often as on windows, also you need windows dlls and have to pay gates therefore
wine works even on macs

you know that's because game's developers are payied from microsoft for that, and since linux is an open community, they don't invest produce something.
it's all about money, not about possibility
The game devs just want to make games for the most profitable and
popular platforms and linux isn't on that list by a mile.
The Humble
Indie Bundle shows that linux and linux gamers are worth to
develop for.
