A Movie for and about the Warsow Race Community

Some of you know the Movie about the German Warsow Community, some don’t, I personally do. As I was rethinking about that movie and how it all begun with its Hype, I was pretty disappointed about its release. Now you will ask why I was disappointed, well the answer is easy: There was no Race in it, even tho there are many German Race players and the Movie’s Editor also announced Race to be in it. It could be cause of the lack of Demos the creator got, that he didn’t put any Race in the movie, but however I was missing it.

The speed, the skills, the challenges, the records beaten and beaten, that’s what keeps Racers going, what keeps them into Warsow since many Versions. With Warsow Version 0.5 Race was restructured and the community is growing again. Old players came back, new players came in and the others switched from Racesow 0.42 to Race in 0.5, they all play together on maps to learn from each other, to enhance their skills, to enjoy the challenge but mostly to beat the records. But there are just a handful of movies providing their skills to the rest of the Warsowians out there, so I decided to dedicate a whole movie to that awesome Community I myself enjoy playing with since nearly 2 years now.

If you didn’t lose interest by reading the text above, you might ask yourself what this is all about. Well, I am hereby ask for permission to use Demos of all you Racers out there from 1337demos.com and I please you to send in Demos rotten on your Drives for decades, showing nice runs, records beaten, maps in ways never done before, runs you want to see or just anything you think is worth showing in a movie.

I will use Demos recorded in Warsow v0.4/0.42, Racesow v0.42 and Warsow v0.5. If a run is recorded in one big Demo, I would like to have a timestamp on the Demo’s name, where the run can be found, so I don’t have to search thru tons of Demo’s searching for something useful. Otherwise I’d like you to cut the Demo’s to the specific run and name it to something like that before sending it to me:

[Player.Clan]Mapname(min-sec).wd1x

For example [Sliv3r.V1]ghost-example(03-12).wd1x

But please don’t expect me to do this movie within days, as I have to decide whether I make one long movie, split in Episodes and stuff like that, depending on the amount of participation and Demos send to me.
I’m open for any suggestions, help in finding a fitting OST and comments about the idea.

So far my plans sorta look like this:

- Runs sorted by player/clan
- A little player sheet/information about the Racer and/or Clan
- Various Runs on one map, showing different ways of finishing it
- Resolution in 720p or 1080p, depending on what looks nicer
- Synchin’ the OST as perfect as possible to the movement and speed

I shall update my first Post in here with actual progress made...

- Movie HUD finished
- 3 different Designs for the Playersheets (Poll will follow)
- made some test renders for 720p and 1080p with various codecs (assuming it will be 720p in .mkv or .mp4)
- made some grafix for intro and stuff (previews when there is time to render)
- watched thru nearly 200 demos on 1337demos.com and picked 34 so far (decisions can vary from day to day ;D )

if you need a decent looking config, you can check out the blog, you know where it is...

Thx to FrooP, but I think I'll make my own config and different scripts as I think for Race the Settings have to be different to a normal Fragmovie, did a special HUD so far...

I know that the Freestyle Demos are used for FrooP's FS Project, as I don't want to interfere neither the FS Project nor FrooP's work, I will use Race only Demos.
So my Movie will be a "Race Only" Movie, to not get into competition with the FS Project.

So far there is not that much participation, so I have to search thru 1337demos.com all by myself, which means a lot of work. Plus my 0.5 is still a bit fucked up, what is a bit annoying when it comes to 3rd Person Cam Chases, but I'll get that fixed...

I got a big big problem fellows, the same I once wrote in the Troubleshooting part, the models in 0.5 are fucked up...

I did some 0.4 Race parts, but I want a movie consisting of all current used versions for race. I need help in fixing my models, I can't use any other model than Vicious in default, which pretty much sucks for Cam-Chases and 3rd person runs...

Anybody got an idea, xcept for reinstall, cause I did that twice with deleting everything wSw left on my comp, including reg, maps, custom xhairs/huds and configs...even default it screws arround...

NEED HELP QUICKLY!!!

install wsw in a new dir, run the portable exe.

Did install in two different Directions, both on different Drives, did run via portable.exe, problems still the same...

Could go berserk...
