I'm sure we would put the better players to I and rest to II

I didn't know this :o
btw I'm also rooting for the idea to play it in many gametypes
pick from these gametypes: 4v4tdm, 3v3ftag, 2v2tdm, 5v5CTFtactics, 4v4CTF(with spawndelay), 5v5bomb
2v2 tdm is nice idea, alot of teams could play there, 4v4 is thing
I vote for, 5v5 if 4v4 wont work :p

it's been tried two times before and, failed miserably both times. i think i was involved organising both though which is probably why. proceed with caution! keep it simple
do not agree. One always has some no shows, esp. in group phase, in any tournament.
But overall we had some very good matches during the last tdm nc, including finals and semi finals which both were pretty exciting with ~60 specs iirc.

Indeed. Moreover BRUNS hopefully won't be involved in this one.
(j/k bunsy :D)
Btw. how many nation cups were actually hosted? I remember three:
1) the first one, back in excello tournaments days (with that 1v1, 2v2, 4v4 system), wasn't finished (iirc it reached semifinals)
2) hosted on tourney.cc, don't remember who did it (V-Deck?), playoffs didn't start
3) last and yet most successful cup, hosted by CB
Did I forget something?:P
-------------------------------
If anyone is thinking about 1vs1, 2vs2, 4vs4 or any kind of that system, it might sound fun, but it most likely won't work out. The only reason this system was used in the first nations cup wasn't lack of players but... scarcity of 4vs4 maps. The only available map was wdm4 (wtest4 back then), so 4vs4 cup wouldn't make much sense.
On the other hand, big nations cup consisting of 3 gametypes based of teamplay (bomb, tdm, ctf), with wise rules, sounds like an awesome idea. Still, I doubt it can be really successful. Of course you might gather many teams, it shouldn't be that hard, but the question is whether they play at least most of their matches...
Tips I can give you from my own experience:
If you really want to host it, make sure to make it properly. That means:
- good streams provided (I am not really up to date with current 'gaming scene' but QuadV used to be quite reliable, well-known and 'respectable')
- nice website with often updates of content (detailed scores, screenshots, demos, maybe even some short reports from the most interesting matches, you could also think about finding people to write some interesting articles - interviews with players, predictions etc.)
- very good advertising (I am writing both about getting players to play as well as letting people from other communities know about the most interesting matches - in the past finals of some tournaments gathered dozens of people which weren't really involved in WarSow)
Of course you can make just an average tournament, not different for any weekly cup, but nations cup might be the best opportunity (available currently for wSw) to gather a lot of people and it would be nicec not to waste it. Also, you should think about 'format'/schedule of this cup (one-day-cup is a very bad idea to be honest).

i think reload, woody and the likes would concur.
Actually the only DDR warsow players I know are legion and triple,
the rest is from west germany.

All those things are awesome to have, but they are all an awfull amount of work and unfortunately only very few people can be arsed to put in some work.
