Hello friends and fans of the war§ow culture
Since 7 months now i've been made charge of the #warsow.pickup channel.
Don't want to annoy you about improvements i've made or what i did wrong.
At this very time some players thinks that pickup runs smoothier than it was, and some thinks i'm sort of gestapo admin (cit.)
First i want to make clear something about my point of view:
- Rules are there for specific purpose, i didn't write them but i do agree they are quietly good: make the games smooth and working well, however some "old school" players thinks they can go against the rules cause they are above those.
Let me make you clear this: you're wrong, expecially when newcomers see you "old school" players acting against them, they take somehow you as example, so the more "old school" you are, the less you must have to go against rules. The more you give a good example, the more the newcomers will become good players.
- Never, ever, a ban is make as personal matter, even if you are sure it is. I'm there just to enforce rules for the reason stated above. On other hands and lately it has become very difficult for me, when someone who goes against rules and get banned, take the rage against me, i always don't rage or use my admin level for personal punishment, and never will, but believe me, it requires lot of nerves most of the time.
- I always give the chance to whom is banned to talk to me and see if we can sort things out, but mostly they rage and blame me and/or rules, and it's very curious how people want to discuss about rules only when they get banned after going against them.
- If, after ban has expired, someone acts equal or worse than before the ban, he deserve a longer ban as stated in the rules, (24h) no matter if he is old or new to pickup.
After this i would like to use thistopic for discuss with everyone, players of pickup and non players of pickup about:
- My Administration (or get new administration)
- Rules
- Gameplay
- Bans
- add more here
I ask you to be as reasonable as possible, giving explicit example or argumented reasons, and hope a serious discussion can come out of this.
If community thinks i'm not doing a good joob i'm positive and ready to leave admin to anyone else who wants to do that. I will be pleased to do that, as i started pickup admin with the willing to help this community enjoy more games, but lately it has become just a kindergarden.

before you became admin, banning was only an issue, when someone
really got on peoples nerves or missed games (frequently). dont
beat yourself up too hard. having that said, i for one have missed
many pickups and am frequently late. tho i get rarely banned for
that, but noone notices that, alright. it would be in my interest,
too, not to have to wait for everyone to arrive at server or stop
"warming up" and kidding around for that mater, but you wont
correct people by scholding them IMHO.

… scrap that, you might had good reasons to do so, in your own
right, and i dont want to turn this into a flamefest quoting pages
of irc 'discussion'.
I think u've done a good job so far. Only thing I dont like is that
have to use similar nick at irc and game.. but doesn't matter much.

In my opinion, ban should be used just for people who don't present
themselves on pickup server, after the add. And also in all those
rare occasions where people should be moderated in the pickup
channel (not really different as it is in #warsow channell
btw).

Yes, they are admins and yes, deal with them
I will no longer do any ban in the channel, thay are in charge of, i will only take care of bots and such stuff.

most "bigger" channels have multiple admins, secures a bit of
ballance.
more ops are good for the organization. When someone is afk, the
others can take his place and help the channel. Nothing bad about
it
