More dirt on 0.3

Tests are proceeding well, some instability in the builds atm, but all bugs are being dealt with...
I'll just get down to the interesting stuff:
- We decided to try something different with the strong EB, as we noticed that increasing the reload time and lowering the damage doesn't change the use of the weapon one bit.
So after a very short brainstorming session, we changed the range of the EB. It's current range is about double the LG length (so about 1000units). We're thinking of making the range go back to infinte (well, close to anyway) and make it so that it does change to a projectile after a certain amount of units travelled.
- The coders were listening when you people posted some things about the anti-lag! The anti-lag's been tweaked, and it realllllyyy feels better now and they're still working on it... Good news huh :-)
Downside is that rocketry has become too easy... so we'll be tweaking that this week. Right now fights are very RL based, but very fun nonetheless. Dilemma dilemma...
- As far as armors go, I think we've reached a final state for 0.3. The armor system will be like this:
GA: 50 - max 100
YA: 100 - max 150
RA: 150 - max 200 (armor ticks to 150)
Armor protection value = 70%
** for the people that know about armor degradation value, it's value currently is 66% (for those of you who don't, do [dmg * (100-66)/100] and that's the amount of hp you'll lose). Although it might change to 0.7, to avoid further confusion.
- I'll give you some proper feedback on the CTF tests we've had this sunday, after I review the demo's and get more info off the players and mappers. What I can say is that the new 1v1 maps have been praised by all of the testers, so we're hoping these will stress the servers 24/7!

I'm afraid I have some bad news: just spoke to medar about wswtv for the 0.3 release and he said it won't be ready if we decide to release somewhere around the beginning of april. Stay tuned...

2 dev.team: Guys, of course i respect you for all you do for the
community. But my favorite weapon is EB. I Liked it in cpma (till
v1.32, cuz of 85dmg instead of 100), i liked it in hl2dmpro (till
v1.7, cuz of 51dmg instead of 75), but cuz of that f*cking changes
i've been done with that games. Do ya want to lose one of your
community's member ? Do what you want with EB, but add server-side
cvar that restores 85dmg and takes that stupid feature with
range=1000, or i will hate you forever! :(
im very happy that uve also changed the armor system. it looks alot
better now :) im just curious on how the eb is gonna work out,
looking forward to playing it
I just want you to know MdotX, remarks like that don't make much of
an impression, let alone a good one. If you would've said what you
think an 85dmg EB adds to the game, we might be more lenient to
your suggestion.
Anyhow, EB stuff isn't finalised at all.
Side note, cpm had 85dmg rail since 1.28, and maybe even before.
@ tide, we're doing the best we can... the coders could also decide to say no release before WSWTV is finished, but it won't be by the end of this month then (even without, it's no promis)

2 nip: I just don't understand, why all mod/game developers are makin' sniper weapons so weak (Railgun in CPMA, .357 in hl2dmpro). IMHO in ideal situation, sniper weapon (EB) and main projecticle weapon (RL) are supposed to take 100dmg, like it was in early CPMA versions. EB as like as EB ammo in warsow is harder to take in most of maps than RL and RL's ammo (EB is placed on more dangerous areas usually), max weak ammo for EB is 10, for RL is 25...

I thought the point of the EB was to be a long-range weapon? not a
mid-short range one.
I'd rather have a long-range weapon doing only 40 dmg but I dunno..

yup eb as hitscan or take out of the game imo, (take out, take out

anyway i always believed eb would work better if it was a really fast(reload time) gun with low dmg and no/or little knockback , so u can use it betweend combos, in long distances before attack and to finish someone on low health ... u guys tried that ?

umm....eb is suppose to be a long range weapon
I agree with sepht, I rather have a 40 dmg infinite range eb than something like what was suggested. I agree with lowering the damage and making the reload time longer though. I would rather be able to do something rather than staring at someone across a map. Your suggestion basically cuts the long range usability, and it wont even be worth using the weapon. Other weapons are much more capable at the range suggested (2x LG)

All I have to say, don't release .3 until you have wswtv working.
You will waste what would be a very great release if you do it
without wswtv in there.

well, some of the devs don't really like the EB like it is, so it's
very lilkely to be changed for 0.3. Bout the longer reload times,
it really doesn't solve that much, some maps will always be EB
heavy and no reload time will solve that.
And yup joo, we tried a more ut-shockwave like aproach for the EB, some of us liked it a lot, but it did change the entire use of the EB... not sure if warsow is meant to be played like that, it's deffo worth a rerun though.

About not releasing with wsw-tv... Personally I think it'd be worse
to wait a month on it (and it alone) then release to the public as
soon as we have the build stable and ready for release in the other
regards. We can always release wsw-tv seperatly (like an update
release, 0.3x). Anyway we'll have to see how things roll
(especially with finalizing the build, making it stable and
preparing it for release).
Is it so hard to add a cvar like g_old_eb ? I don't ask you
anymore, plz, share my opinion about EB. Yes, i liked Shock RIfle
in UT2004, there was a Lighting Gun.
A little suggection: weak ammo - 40dmg, reload time = 1/2 of strong ammo reload time (like Shock Rifle), strong ammo - 85dmg, reload time = as it is in 0.21. (like UT's LG)

Crossbow-like EB isn't rulezz imo.
