but in one hand its like you're doing a step back and on the other hand its politicly motivated

Koochis posts maybe made it sound political decidion but it is not.

We have no OS X maintainers (or hardware to do it anymore) so OS X port will be dropped.

Simple as that.

Sounds logical.
That political thingy wasnt honest.

hi guys,

developing team is thinking to remove MacOSX support from 0.7. Why this choice ? Because of the lack of people, inside the dev team, who can maintain MacOSX support.
Since 10% of warsow downloads come from Mac users, we wouldn't do that.

How many times do i have to download the mac-file, that you wont remove it from 0.7?

Which part of this you did not understand:

I just didn't read it. :/

I can't leave this topic without reply. I'm not mac-user, but it is sad that some warsowians will not play 0.7, because of lack of osx-developers. Even OpenArena give match attention for this os...

Hey, mac-users! Why do you keep silence? Do something if you really love the game!

Do something?
Adem, I love your enthusiasm but...
Nagging on the current development team will never solve the issue im afraid..
In a way silence is the least rude way to handle this mate =D

Im a mac user myself, and has been involved with warsow in one way or another for a long time.

@0.7 it seems I wont be able to play they game at all, and yes that's sad.

But unless i have the coding skills myself i can not do something about it =D

p.s. the truth is that OS-X is dropped, mainly cause Crizis know's i cant beat him if i cant play the game.. ;)

Its not that macuzrs cant play it u know, i will have to use bootcamp or a emulationware like parallels but as we all know that kinda stuff is in reputation not to be optimal!

Bootcamp actually works very well! :) Used it for 1 year to play warsow. Ended up buying a PC for my gaming needs in the end though. Since my old mbp couldnt hack it with Warsow 0.6 :)

Na cmon its definitly hitting my nerves hard if you've gotta reboot everything up and down for 5 minutes just to play a round of the §§§§§oooww!

Regarding macos support on wsw in the last days i asked myself

-Is there such a big difference in programming between Win and macos and
-How much does it take to learn all that c++ stuff, i played around with that possibility in my mind several times in my life yet but never realy had a target to do, the last stuff i made were a few simple games back in 2004 with F* vb in school :D

Well, visual basic would be perfect for not helping you even slightly with a game programmed in straight C.

And mac is mostly bad because it changes quite a lot every time they release a new OS, which seems to be relatively often, and you'd have to make sure that the changes don't break connectivity with other versions or break comparability with other OSs. Plus, as the devs said, they don't HAVE a mac. At all.

And i requote that. It's not like we wouldnt have the capability or know-how to do the porting ourselves, it is the pure simple fact that we dont have a modern up-to-date machine with macos installed!

Thx for the honest reply.
I'm sure there are sum reasons why the devs can't just use a VM?

1) illegal
2) lack of proper 3d acceleration
3) performance

why are we arguing this? it isn't an option.

I've an up to date macbook pro, and some basic C knowledge, but the mainproblem is that I've no idea 'bout coding in C on a macosx. coding, and even compiling warsow on win32 or on Debian/Ubuntu was really easy, but for some reason I failed disastrous when compiling wsw on my mac. I also don't know everything about macosx application architecture. I think I'll try to get into that topic some more, maybe I can be a help in future...

Btw, VB.NET, as well as every other programming language was a great help to me learning C, simply because I already had acces to programming. From this point C is just a diffrent syntax and a whole diffrent world 'cause usually there's not such a framework like .NET, but still VB.NET was a great help to me since I knew some of the basic ideas and so on.

Coding on OS X isn't exactly a joyride.

It's easier for Mac owners just to install Windows with bootcamp and get double performance out of their hardware anyway. 3D performance on OS X is abysmal compared to win or lin.
