I dont think that seriously any dev member can come to tell me that they would be developing this game if no one were playing and vice versa devmembers are very important for warsow so that game can stay fresh and develop and that way keep players playing this game.
qft
while it would at least make sense to play, when noone developes anymore, i wouldnt see that happening.

i can. 've been doing the engine for ages, much longer than the game exists and would prolly be doing the same if there were no warsow, I really don't care.
Hi, I'm bored and want to give my unwelcome opinion!
I'm new to Warsow - I've tried it some in the past but never really got into it. I play Quake. I get the feeling that perhaps the developers of this fine game may not realize how big of a deal their planned updates could potentially be. A proper ranking system (ladder) and easy matchmaking is something that the Quake community lacks and desires greatly. If properly implemented and advertised, I think it would get a *lot* of attention.
Yes, because I play Quake, I find myself wishing Warsow was just like Quake when I play it. I'm sure other Quake players do too, and I'm sure you already knew that. However, I want to tell you that I'm quite sure myself and other Quake players can get over that and embrace Warsow if we are able to quickly and easily have competitive games on a ladder. So when people find out about your plans, don't be surprised when you get more and more requests for blog updates, etc. :D
P.S. Any news for us? ;)

Well, to clear things up: 0.7 won't have match making per se, but
there is skillranking + full stat collecting (and, well,
with this data it is possible to do match making later).
Only small thing I want for 0.7 personally which has something to do with skillranking, is callvote shuffle command. Anyway, if someone comes up with superb ui ideas for actual match making / web ladder / whatever, adding such things will be (gladly) much much easier than now and we can add them simply with autoupdate, and web-side things completely separately from the client itself.
I'll try to write up 0.7 progress blog this week...

finally :b
about 0.7's ui.. More informative in-game (or mb on the warsow.net) server browser would be nice as a start. I mean something liek QL Browser: players, time till the end, scores, rankings.
And some questions for your future devblog post if you please:
- will be ranking/statistics visible in game?
- how often statistics will be updated? Once per minute? hour? day?
- is it going to be flag icons in wsw?
- would be there statistics for the countries?
- will be ranking/statistics visible in game?
Maybe.

Stats are realtime (sent by server right after the match).
- is it going to be flag icons in wsw?
What?
- would be there statistics for the countries?
No.

No.
1. I mean flag of the country near the player name.
2. Sad, cause it really hard to find duellers/dmers from my country (Russia). Wars0w.ru and #warsow.ru are dead.
i think he means flag visible in the ladder boards.
Any beta or smthing planned? For testing?
any cool icon for carrer achievement? Some special achivement like winner of cups,...?

1. No.
2. Something like this may be done later at web side, but in client, no.
And yes, beta is planned, but that's still months off if our progress in the ui is any indicator... slacking ui team :p

Hardly a "team" atm ;)

No ideas! Implementations! Help!
crizis, what about ingame voice channels?
i gave you a sourcecode back in 2010 about that? remember?
It uses teamspeak sdk. the teamspeak server was created by wsw server...
supporting multiples channels. well, it's all here: http://www.warsow.net/forum/thread/12739/1
no use for it?
remember that "snapshot" function i created? no use too? i would like to see those things in use one day =p
regards

As toukkapoukka sad, devs need help, not ideas.

There were some problems related to the teamspeak implementation, which I have already long forgotten. One obvious problem is teamspeak is closed source product and not available for all of our target platforms, compiling against closed libs is also legally dodgy (and we don't want our source to depend on anything proprietary anyway) so it isn't an option. Mumble would be better target for Warsow (and, we do have some mumble-specific support in already).
If you mean screenshot snapshot function, as a feature that is nice, yes, but again iirc the implementation had some problems (jamming/lagging the client, I don't remember exactly).
What devs exactly do you need?
I think it must not be only one who is playing the game.
Perhaps we (community) can ask our friends, collegues, neighbours,...
who have the right skills for helping you ;)

Right now we'd need someone with sick C++ skills and long
experience in optimizing code, and preferably with html rendering
experience, to optimize our (3rd party) UI lib.
Also we'd need some photoshop/ui slave to design statweb stuff and ideas what to do with our stat/skillrating systems.

you are looking for some kind of layout of what you will do for you in game stat and Matchmaking?
Are you restarting MM from nothing?
At this point I'm more interested for ideas for the web side (we
_can_ display the exact same stuff at client side too (with
relatively little html-to-rhtml poting)) what to do with our
stat/skillrating data. So, web-side ideas.
We do have "mm" technically done and working (login, collecting stats, making skillrating).

what about the tutorial map planned for 0.55?
Well i guess we will have more information in next blog post
