Intriguing all-white visual style
Hallo everyone :)
I'm probably an intermediate-level warsow player (so yeah, not part of the >90% that are pros) so it may be that I'm missing something obvious. I have a reasonably modern graphics card (Nv GeForce 210).
I've looked at this great frag movie and I'm fascinated by the slick but clear all-white style in which the map is rendered. It's like all diffuse colors of textures and solid-colored poly's are set to white, but clarity is retained because bump maps and lighting / light colors are still as usual.
I really want to try out playing warsow with such a visual style, but I've gone through my ~/.warsow0.6/config.cfg file, looked at many different settings (gl_ r_ cg_) and for the life of me I just can't figure it out. It's not map overbright or general overbright bits, it's something else. I know how to set the item styles and weapon, projectile and player colors to be more colorful, but I can't figure out how to set the world in all-white.
Does anyone have any idea how the visual style in the video was achieved? I hope it can be done.

r_lightmap 1
and afaik vertexlighting should be disable, search for r_lighting_vertex or smth like that in the config file

That's r_lightmap, ye. It's cheat-protected cvar in iirc in 0.6 so
you can use it only locally for videos n stuff, but not for
playing.
0.7 has r_drawflat which lets you define your own ceiling and wall colors, not just white.

I don't remember wether it's allowed in 0.7 or not, but r_drawflat is the correct way of doing this, allowing custom colors and even greyscaling the lightmaps.
Ah! So it is r_lightmap, then. Thanks, everyone.
I have 0.61 and testing out with a local wsw_server, it seems this setting is indeed not cheat-protected.
By the way, is there any good documentation for these settings (and for warsow settings in general)?

There used to be a somewhat decent one on the wiki. It's still up, but the site is incredibly slow.
It's best to join a server (important), turn logging on, and type cvarlist. You'll have a complete list of commands. Most of them are self explanatory, but some you might need help with. Best is to ask here, or IRC. If you can read C, then you can also look in the code included with the SDK.
