Lost Demo

So I just tried to rewatch a game I played but can't find the replay. I'm guessing Warsow only starts recording a demo when a game starts which is why it didn't record the game which I joined half way through. I've given up hope of ever retrieving that footage but I want to be sure I record everything in the future. How can I force Warsow to record demos whenever a game is running, regardless of not being there when it started?

If the server records demos you can get it from there.

- Connect to the server,
- type demolist in console,
- find the demo of the game, and
- type demoget <#> to download it.

First you need find a server that is supporting/ALLOWING this feature..
Since no insta-server\crizis' insta servers is allowing you to do this, I really don't even try to waste this 10 seconds to find out, whether it works or not.. Better just record by yourself. Way safer to record some nice frags.

Another thread derailed into instagib vs nw -_- Thanks anyway Clown, didn't help me but it's nice that most other servers record demos.

I know that doing "record {demoname}" lets you record whenever, is it somehow possible to have a small script that issues that command with the demoname as just number++ or w/e as soon as you join a game? I know I could do the command manually but I'd much prefer an automated system.

autoaction is what you want. Look for it in player menu or type "cg_autoaction 1" in console for automatic recording of your matches.

Yes it is possible to make a scrip like that, lots of defrag/racers use similar scripts. I don't have one on hand, but it's been talked about on the forum before.

IMHO autoaction just needs to be fixed to record every game that is played, whether joining midgame or not.

I always thought it recorded all the time. However there might be serverdemos which you can find with demolist and demoget ###

And to all you guys flaming on insta. Stop, just stop. We need more positive energy in here so everyone stays happy and plays wsw!

This issue has been fixed for the final version.
