Basically, what i need is somebody how is capable to handle all the code work for the gameplay,an another mapper would be great too. In the next line i will try to describe the most effeciency how works the gamemode and what it is.


Basic description
In this gametype, two teams battles for the controlling of a « relique », team alpha attack (try to pick the relique after going throught some defence and bringing back the relique to base) and team beta defend (try to protect the relique). The game is played in two round (+-30 mins we can have winner loser and rarely draw round). Each team attack then defend.

A map is divided in three or more « checkpoint (depent on maps)», these check points are also called small objectif, for going to the « relique », for instance a simple objective would be  « destroy the protected door , or « activate the opening of a door »,... When an objectif is complete the attacking team (alpha) go to the next objectif and then to the third (or final), after that alpha team need to pick up the « relique » and bring it to base (relique give some penalties like walk speed decrease,...). When a checkpoint (objective) is reached by team alpha, she score one point. At the end of the round if no checkpoint have been reached score goes to beta team. After beta team become attacker and alpha defender.




What need to be coded. + basic informations

10vs10 players
players start with 100/100
players have the same weapons choice than bomb
respawn time is 10s
roundtime :15min
entity to activate timer : 20s
entity to explode/open,... : 60s
entity to desactivate/defuse timer : 30s
no objective carrier evertybody can activate the events.
Spawnprotection: 10s
no score limit.
The only way to score is to reach a checkpoint. If checkpoint is not checked by alpha team score goes to beta.
When alpha team reach the « relique room and pick it » their spawn is moved to the relique « room ».
« relique » bring penalties to the owner (slower but stronger).


Well that's pretty much all i can explain at the moment.(i will bring more description on what i need for mapping entity if you request it, screenshots,...) I already started drawing and trying some stuff in mapping and with 3dsmax. But i need some good coders to bring this project to life.
The gametype is simple but it needs good entity for mappers to make awesome objective and such :).

And if you have some idea on what can be a warsow relique feel free to show some sketchs/ idea,...

Sounds a lot like the gametype Assault from Unreal Tournament.

And pretty standard really. It's mostly a matter of mapping.

yeah ofc but as i can't code anything a coder would be really useful for designing some mapping entities

I planned to code and map that kind of Assault mode too, years ago.
Never find the time to :)
But if I remember well Zone worked on that kind of GT too, for 0.5 maybe or 0.42, don't remember exactly

i didn't found any post with Zone posting that kind of gametype :/

Imo, it will be a big waste of time to make this: it would require a lot of testing for which you don't have the backing etc. Game type adoption is very hit and miss; who would have predicted slide for example? Of the more classic game types introduced, bomb is the only one that has really gone somewhere, probably because everyone has played something like it and because the dev team got behind it after they saw the potential.

*you have seen how hard it is to find even duels to test your map, and now you want 10v10 gametype?

You would be wiser to spend your time making high quality bomb maps as then they might actually get played....

While I want to agree with you in some ways law, I can't for the simple reason that the surest way to fail is to not try. But it's more than that; there are a lot of people who loved Assault, and have missed it in recent games. It's the kind of gametype which could generate new people. Same with Invasion; you can't tell me noone would pick up a free game with Invasion and Assault in it.

But equally importantly, it will serve as an example of what Warsow itself is capable of. This weekend I can be relatively certain my internet won't spontaneously disappear, and I have no plans, so I'll start looking through this. It should be interesting.

Why this gametype would not be played, it has everything to be fun and played, it don't requires a lot of skill like duel do, it's heavy pu designed, so i guess many people can enjoy it if we do proper advertising.

When i look at the gametype which are played in public these day, i saw many gametype wich are more noob friendly, more for beginners with instant fun, ica, iagungame,survival,bomb, da, race. only duel is frequently played and don't need pickups to be played, and guess what it's mostly non item based gametype. People join and get instant fun, they don't need to learn the map to get proper item (look at dm, it's jsut boring to get raped each time you respawn with 100 hp and all items on the map are taken by powerful players, you just quit cause of ragequit), And i just found that warsow need more of these instant fun gametype, that's why i asked help here. Items based game mode have made their time, players like to play differently now, and warsow should live with it's time and not 10 years earlier.

I wasn't saying this based on the gametype concept which is a fairly similar to many existing game types in other games, it was more about the community... To test this properly you will need 20 mature, patient and constructive people, whereas imo, you will struggle to find 20 players on a consistent basis, and that's without the other criteria..

I like the concept and I agree about modernising dm games, but this gt will be alot of work, but with warsow community the size it is etc, it will more than likely for nothing.

nothing worth a try, i will be on vacation next week so i will not be able to continue my mappings projects for this gametype (hopefully somebody will make a try with coding), but as i'm back i will try as hard for making this gametype a reality. I hope the comunity will help me althought i don't see that much keen of interest in that post, sadly :/
My dad may help me with the coding part but the wiki doc is very poor and he is not that much motivated to brew the code to figure out all the aspect of warsow AS.

Well I'm getting tired of making slide maps and for some reason I don't like bomb. Your idea is gread but the main problem is that it recuires lots players. 3 vs 3 would be possible on wsw. BTW surv was popular at the beginning but lack of high quality maps caused players to quit.


I can start on a map right now if you give me your vision and some basic layout drawings.
If it doesnt work out I can convert it to bomb :P

I bought and played it loooong time ago (around it's release), awesome game, really. I think there's Torchlight 2 already, or at least coming, which should have multiplayer too :p

It got delayed but its still coming! and yeah it should have multiplayer
