Cannot pick up armors sometimes?

I'm new here from Quakelive so some stuff still confuse me. I've finally managed to get a grip on weird megahealth timings and such new cool stuff.
But here's the thing. Sometimes i just walk through an armor. What's up with that? I thought maybe the weaker armors are reserved only for when you're like really low on health, as the problem never happened with the red armor. With both green and yellow armor it sometimes does. I haven't really managed to figure out for sure if it has to do with hp tho.. so yeah.. what is that?

Basically the armors work similarly to Quake World, but simpler. The way Megahealth works also comes from Quake World.
In version 0.6 the green armor can only be picked up if you have less than 95 armor points, the yellow armor can only be picked up if you have less than 125 armor points, and the red armor can only be picked up if you have less than 175 armor points.
In version 0.7 currently in beta, and released soon, the system is quite similar, but the numbers have changed. Red can only be picked up with less than 150, yellow is still 125, and green is now 100.
Basically the armors work similarly to Quake World, but simpler. The way Megahealth works also comes from Quake World.
In version 0.6 the green armor can only be picked up if you have less than 95 armor points, the yellow armor can only be picked up if you have less than 125 armor points, and the red armor can only be picked up if you have less than 175 armor points.

GA is plus50 up to 100 armor
YA is plus75 up to 125 armor
RA is plus100 up to 150 armor
You can get more than 150 with shards

Basically you just have to know:
Up to 100 AP you can pick up any armor.
From 100 AP onwards its all armors - Green Armor.
From 125 AP onwards it's only Red Armor and Shards.
From 150 AP it's only Shards up to 200 AP.
Armor dosen't tick down so you have to get damage in order to be able to pick up armors once you are over the different limits.
Up to 100 AP you can pick up any armor.
From 100 AP onwards its all armors - Green Armor.
From 125 AP onwards it's only Red Armor and Shards.
From 150 AP it's only Shards up to 200 AP.
Armor dosen't tick down so you have to get damage in order to be able to pick up armors once you are over the different limits.

Trust me, that's the least of my worries :D
the item hitboxes are quite small, it's easy to disturb someone
with RL for example that they fly over the armor.
