Duel in game helper
I was thinking in a wsw in game timer (for duel or tdm) or just
enable the items timer to the player in game too (meaby for
callvote). all this to help to new comers in duel.
ex:
Callvote helptimer 1 (or 0)
lets discuss
idea borned since this topic: http://esreality.com/post/2296872/making-a-game-fun-for-all-skills/
sorry for my english

No.
Newcomers won't learn anything trough this, they only will learn to constantly look at a certain part of the screen to know when to move in on an item. Duel is (arguably) the most skillfull gametype of every oldschool FPS and someone who can't add 20 or 25 seconds to a number from 0 to 59 doesn't belong into Duel imho.
GoReY's timing-guide over here is just enough help for beginners. Do what he said, practice constantly for several weeks and soon you won't even realize that you are timing the items, you will just find yourself at the RA right the second it spawns.

i say it bc some noobs always are raped playing duel and the result its rage quit or 50 1. would be a good system to introduce duel and good first impression of the mod, they need some balance.

That's a great way to help people get into the game WTFProoF, I love the way you really try to get people interested in wsw.
All sarcasm aside though, people should be able to do the timing in their head, but for an extreme newbie like myself maybe a bit of extra help would go a long way. I see that an actual timer would be over the top, but how about increasing the sound of item spawns for certain newer users so they can hear the item from wherever they are. It doesn't give them any leg up if their too deaf to hear the noise, but it does give a bit of a handicap.
Now I'm not saying these noises should be deafeningly loud or even super loud at all. They should be just loud enough to alert, but not to annoy.

i think some appearring tips should be better.
like "RA/GA/YA in 5 seconds" or "He's low, KILL HIM NOW" or "Please, get yourself a weapon already".

Something that is very good for beginner is the command handicap,
it'll make your opponent deal less damage.
idontcare: you trollin right now? handicap makes yourself weaker
not your opponent, else it would be a cheat.

Yeah I meant to ask the opponent to put handicap in.

These were hard times.. for everyone here.

For the ones that stayed you mean?
Could easily do a gametype called Duel Training that does this
stuff.

Ok then it's right, but who in his right mind would do that?

Yes, why would an experienced player set handicap against a beginner.
If they play many games, their timing by feel improves all the
time. This is not needed.
f1 if it can be callvoted for specific players, like a handicap or
something. that way top level players can get more even games vs
lower level players that are getting assistance.
duel sucks: its not representative of the real skill difference
between players (tiny difference in skill = rape), provides no
narrative for players or specs - its just random run around for 10
minutes.
reform the 1v1 gametype to something easier to get into, easier to follow and easier to play. skill comes from the players fighting eachother, not eachother fighting the game...
that way you also wouldnt have these discussions about making fighting the game easier.
but ye, this timer thing would be a start, altho with warsow, having it displayed for all to see might result in alot of attempts to steal - if u kno the time with such precision, it can be very tempting to try and make the steal and we all know that trying to stop someone determined to rush in warsow is not possible, or atleast far harder and riskier than it is to do the actual rushing. i predict more retarded rocket fights (is this even possible) on top of items with this. im thinking it will turn everyone into a wormy or a hyrveli...

Okay, so, what you don't like about warsow:
Duel
Fast movement
The weapons
So you're basically at odds with everyone else here.
i love the movement, its what got me hooked to warsow in the first
place, i love the quake3 weaponset in principle and i enjoy playing
duel sometimes when the games are more or less close.
what i was trying to say was that having the warsowtv spechud timers enabled in games will not magically make the game more noob friendly or make for higher quality duels.
the fast paced 1v1 gametype has not changed at all since quake1 (the first game in the genre) and has been done in exactly the same way in every official sequel and god knows how many other games derived from it/them (warsow included).
you often see people say how much they want to see new players come in etc, but without actually looking at what is stopping people from really getting hooked (in my opinion the nonexistent introduction to movement and the severity of the gametypes where 90% of games are extremely onesided) without any will to reform or look at ways to make that happen.
with respect to the thing proposed in this thread, i dont think it would actually make things more noobfriendly at all, and would possibly have the negative (imo) consequence of turning everyone into wormy and hyrveli...
