I have lib32-nvidia-utils installed. Config should be stock, since I wasn't able to start the game.

Did you try compiling it? The official build targets ubuntu.

Have you tried setting the video mode you want with something like this?

vid_mode -1
vid_customwidth 800
vid_customheight 600

Also, the 304 drivers are still beta, so it could be that...
