Another game using FBSP
Hi,
I recently started using Warsow's FBSP format in my game, Scout's Journey. What inspired me to use FBSP for single player maps was how good the lighting looked in Warsow. This convinced me to go with static lightmaps instead of e.g. Doom3 tech.
I'm proud to say that it's got a little bit of Warsow in it. You make a great game, truly inspiring.

Hi! :) And thank you.
We actually did stumble around your blog just a day or two ago and saw Warsow being mentioned there! This lead to nostalgic discussion how much hidden talent there still is in the good old Q1 modding community..
Good luck for your project!

...Scout’s Journey as an RPG-FPS with a Quake theme (requires Quake)...
Getting rly curious about iit now, good luck! :)
Yeah, good luck with it! I've always wondered why FBSP has a pretty
low adoption rate..
tbh I was amazed when I saw the results of my relatively crappy
sunlight shader in an FBSP map. So pretty. I think for static
lightmaps, FBSP is hard to beat.
The low adoption rate is probably due to no support in engines such as darkplaces. Lots of people from the quake community seem to like using QuakeC and DP is a brand name there. Q2 community seems to be mostly dead unfortunately.
Good luck with Warsow too, it's an admirable game and I have often played against bots just because I like the game, but I'm no good as an online player because all my time goes into game design. I would get slaughtered. :)
Warsow mapping is actually on the list of stuff I'd like to do. I have a couple multiplayer maps leftover from a previous project, mostly (from-scratch) variants on Q1 maps like DM1, DM5 and DM6. I also have a Q2DM1 variant blocked out. Not sure how well those would be suited to the fast Warsow gameplay though.
Maybe an original map for warsow is in the future. Remakes suck anyway. :-)

Would someone want to play this in Warsow? It's a small DM map
(probably only really suitable for 1vs1) inspired by Quake DM1,
Place of Two Deaths.

I have it converted to FBSP; it is a leftover from my previous project. The textures are placeholder and can be replaced with whatever you like.
If there's interest, I'd fully turn this into a Warsow map.
No Future?

I think so, get a little warsow feeling over that map.
