Re: [HUD]bluespear HUD for TV

you noticed weapons look a tad ugly, or well, misplaced when you use cg_gun 1 ?
The fov the weapons are displayed on is customisable in 0.3 (so the look of your weapon won't change if you change fov).

Re: [HUD]bluespear HUD for TV

Does it do anything I can't currently do with cg_guny and cg_gunz values?

weaponfov 60 http://pix.nofrag.com/01/08/e0469e253284db58b3f1aef61cf1.jpg
weaponfov 90 http://pix.nofrag.com/af/96/b6443e4bf22a63c3989b6c20fa35.jpg
weaponfov 120 http://pix.nofrag.com/e6/29/78c251b95a1700dd468e643b58c9.jpg

(It just makes your weapon look nice on every fov)

nice screenies nip

Re: [HUD]bluespear HUD for TV

Why do you see more and more of the RL? It looks really awkward in the last picture to me. Is this because your actual fov isn't the same as the weaponfov? What is your fov in those screenshots, and does it change between them? Would fov 120 weaponfov 120 make the RL look the same in the third picture as it does in the first?

Re: [HUD]bluespear HUD for TV

scratch, in 0.3 they added a new feature called weaponfov, where you can set the weaponfov independently of the fov.

All three of those screenshots have the same fov.
The problem is right now that if you use a high fov (like 120+) the gun looks stretched out and looks just like the last picture. With the new weaponfov variable you could set the FOV to something like 130 but still have your weapon look as nice and proper as it would at 90 fov (if you set weaponfov to 90).

Re: [HUD]bluespear HUD for TV

Ok, so the weapon is drawn with a fov that is fixed and separate from the regular fov-- I guess that's handy for zooming? Or less so, maybe, I don't use zoom so it might mess you up if you're used to your gun view changing. You can mimic that behavior if your fov is constant by toying with the cg_gunx,y,z variables, unless there's something I'm missing. In particular, those screenshots look like they could be made in .21 just by changing the cg_gunz variable, which lets you change the "depth" of the weapon.

It's handy for playing at high fovs, I'm pretty sure that with gunz you can only shift the weapon, not change the angle it is rendered at. This is useful for actually rendering it in a pretty manner, instead of rendering it stretched and then shifting in an attempt to make it look good.
