Topic: Warsow 0.5 for Mac OS X: FAQ, tips, tricks.

Since these things are most frequently asked, here's collection of common problems & solutions for Warsow Mac OS X client:

Requirements?

Mac OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac!!

Low fps with recent Nvidia cards on some maps (wca1, wdm11, wdm15 most notable ones..)

set gl_ext_texture_compression 1 and do vid_restart. Should run fine then. Also as a last resort you can try gl_ext_fragment_shader 0 or/and gl_ext_GLSL 0 (+ vid_restart).

Disabling that !"#€%&/ mouse acceleration, is it possible?

There are several ways to make this darned broken mouse acceleration more tolerable.

First way is to use built-in hack in Warsow to disable it (same as in NQuake/QuakeWorld Mac version): in_disablemacosxmouseaccel 1 and restart Warsow
    - Known bug with this is that this also resets mouse sensitivity setting to zero on some Macs.

Alternative way to get rid of the mouse acceleration globally is to use SteerMouse (20USD shareware).

Third way (Recommended) Download and install Secrets. From Secrets panel, select System -> Mouse speed multiplier. Set this to 0. Combine this with Steermouse driver and in_disablemacosxmouseaccel 1 and you'll get as closely same accel curve as in Windows as possible. This this way, leave in_disablemacosxmouseaccel cvar as 0 and leave accel curve handling to the input driver. Recommended SteerMouse values: Tracking 0.0, Sensitivity 200

Some other alternative solutions are: USB OverDrive (20USD shareware), iMouseFix (free), Mouse Acceleration panel (free, open source), Kill Mouse Accel (cli + gui utility, code included in the forums. Not possible to change sensitivity with this).

If you get tearing...

cl_maxfps 60 (+ enable vsync)

Where my settings are?!

bumb: added new accel disabling tip - probably the closest so far for holy grail of getting correct mouse movement in OS X.

Re: Warsow 0.5 for Mac OS X: FAQ, tips, tricks.

I have some problem in Warsow mac version with my keyboard.
When I press 'a' key, console opens. I have default config. Tried to change keyboad type in mac settings, tried to unbind this button, no result.

Really bizarre. Which keyboard layout you're using (locale setting)?

Re: Warsow 0.5 for Mac OS X: FAQ, tips, tricks.

Russian.
I tried to remove it from locale settings, so only english layout stay. no result
When I'm trying to bind keys in menu, all my 'qweasdzxc' buttons are recognized wrong.
q - KP_5 ,
w - KD_RIGHTARROW
e - KP_PLUS
s - command
d - option

I have no problems in other programs with this keys. numlock button doesn't work in Mac
And also when i open console (using 'a' button) all the keys work in proper way. except 'a' - it closes console.

Thanks for help

Unfortunately I have no idea about this unless I can get instructions how to reproduce this. Works fine on my Macbook Pro / OS X 0.5.

Hopefully you're not using magic mouse big_smile

Re: Warsow 0.5 for Mac OS X: FAQ, tips, tricks.

Sounds like "emulate3buttons" in linux. Bind mouse3 to something (like "say MOUSE3") and see if it fires when you click both buttons simultaneously. There might be some option for this in your mouse preferences -- disable it.

Sounds like magic/mighty mouse.

They're limited (by hardware) to only detect either left or right click, but unable to do both same time. If you're holding your mouse finger on the left side of the mouse, you cannot right click, you need to lift your finger from the left side.
