can you upload the config please?
can you upload the config please?
Theres not much to it...
He records @ 140fps, changes it into an avi (no compression yet, unless your low on hd space then use hufflyv or something), opens the avi in vegas (40.0 fps framerate), sets the speed to 4x.
(14:24:55) <SNP> i cap @ 160fps
(14:25:00) <SNP> resample to 40fps
(14:25:03) <SNP> thats how it's smooth
(14:25:10) <SNP> if you cap at 160fps on 0.2
(14:26:14) <j-X|MysTikal> at what stage do you resample it?
(14:26:19) <j-X|MysTikal> virtualdub, or vegas?
(14:26:35) <SNP> i only use virtualdub for resizing and adding a little sharpness
(14:26:40) <SNP> (and compression in the end)
(14:26:43) <SNP> 4x resample with vegas
(14:26:51) <SNP> 160/4=40fps
(14:26:57) <j-X|MysTikal> how exactly do you resample stuff?
(14:27:13) <SNP> ok you loa the 160fps video to vegas
(14:27:23) <SNP> you set the framerate @ 40fps
(14:27:30) <SNP> and you move the Speed bar to 4x
(14:27:34) <SNP> save video file
(14:27:37) <SNP> you have it resampled
(14:27:57) <SNP> (vegas has an auto smart resample option enabled by default)
(14:28:03) <SNP> check to see if it is enabled for you
(14:28:10) <SNP> right clicp properties on the video clip
(14:28:18) <SNP> on the timelint
(14:28:21) <SNP> *timeline
(14:28:47) <SNP> the actual steps i did are
(14:28:52) <SNP> cap using warsow
(14:29:08) <SNP> virtualdub resize and add a little sharpen filter, save as huffyuv @ 160 fps
(14:29:27) <SNP> load in vegas, turn fps to 40fps, 4x speed, save as huffyuv
(14:29:36) <SNP> did that with all the clips
(14:29:54) <SNP> and when all clips are ready, i loaded vegas and inserted the final resampled clips
(14:30:29) <SNP> 1440x960 i think
(14:30:33) <SNP> and resize to 848x480
(14:30:46) <SNP> with AA@4x and AF@8x
(14:30:49) <SNP> 3-4mbs
(14:30:54) <SNP> 50second clip ~ 30gb
it has great video settings, that´s all (good gamma settings)
nice to see you got wsw so smooth. i hope you're going to use ingame sounds
very smooth nice frags and cool music! can't wait for the final movie!
I am going to use in-game sounds on *some* clips.
I actually want the frags in the movie to be synced with the music. That won't have a very nice result with in-game sounds on all the time imo, however I will include in-game sounds on "longer" tdm clips and when the soundtrack is low/slower in tempo.

That's what works best, man. infact ingame sounds fitting with music is one of the real challenges in movie making
Wow, I'm really impressed, first advantages:
+ so smooth
+ effects
+ this darkness (<3)
+ frags
++ MUSIC (Camina Burana would be nice too, think about this)
It was really great trailer. I just can't wait for full movie!
Anyway it has two disadvantages, which I hope you will fix in full movie.
First is not visible strip of chat - don't see who fraged.
Second is sounds from games - it's really needed to hear them! Watching fragmovie without them is a bit strange (at least for me).
If this 2 disadvantages will be fixed, final movie will be imo the best, and could even easily compete with such classical movies like "Polish Frag Festival" or "the sYnthesized". Good Luck!
Note: 9/10

Hmmm, tbh I never tried to have in-game sound on the whole movie. (i was lazy to capture the sound on all clips
)
I will give it a shot and see the results tom.
Chat strips will not be included and the crosshair will be removed on the final movie.
You killed Nickname will be visible on most (if not all) First Person POV frags though!
Mozart's Carmina Burana is REALLY nice but it's a bit old and... "too classic" (too classic? lol:P). Will try to see if i can find similar songs, that are not used so much.

That's one of my biggest problems atm, too. It's hard to have good sync with ingame sound.
I don't think my project is less smoother but your 160 to 40fps method > my 60 to 30fps method; how bad i'm almost done :]...
I Won't bring out a trailer or some stuff like that. "It's done when it's done."
Nvm, here's my soundtrack

i have a question.. i dont' have vegas, only vdub.. is there a way to use demoavi and not make it look slow mo with only vdub? i tried capping at dif fps's but its always too slow and alot darker
ugh, please dont use OST's or new-age classical rock/immediate music in your full movie ![]()
gr8 trailer dude ![]()
looking forward for the full vid.

- Heavy-Instrumental is for Countrstrike.
- Techno is for Jumpmovies.
- He used "OST's or new-age classical rock/immediate music" too
- Where's the difference between old/new classical/rock whatever?
Imo nowadays componists are equal to the ones of former centuries.
Having got about 90 OSTs here and ~30 albums of classical music I
think I know what I'm talking about. Nevertheless it depends on your
favours.
Can you please place some more constructive replies here. States without arguements suck.
(Here's one for you:
Idiot-apostrophe-usage by a native speaker. I remember having learned the difference
between numerus/casus in 3rd grade. That's one of the most unexcusable mistakes
one can imho make - though too many people use wrong genitive forms it dies out :[)
Do you have any arguments explaining why Heavy-Instrumental is so good for CS and techno for "jumpmovies"?

That's how language evolves, things die out and others come to take their place.

Axiomes.

I dunno who told me, but that was some of the things i remember most of the criticism of my last movie.

From my own experience in movies and game movie-making I know that if you want something fresh then try expanding your boundries (obviously). Maybe it's just my personal taste but i've seen tons of gaming movies that use OSTs and apart from Badge3 nothing sticks in my mind as memorable.
-Heavy-Instrumental is very effective for violent fps shooters. I personally wouldnt use it for counterstrike, which is largely slow paced game. Quake is an example of a genre where it works well, the heavy rock sound mixed with Quake's gothic theme is nice. I think it could be good in Warsow also (something im experimenting with at the moment) due to the fast pace, allowing for quick cuts etc.
-Techno i think is crap for trickjump movies, that's why there has been nothing too original since IT2. The best use of techno i've seen since is Mercurial (CPMA).
Try watching Mad mind dulep, XSU-Gold, Just Quake, Badge2 for examples of movies that work outside your suggestions.
Please don't take it personally, i'd just love to see something new for a change.
I was actually going to use a mix of Choir/Orchestrated music and some sonic mayhem clips which I think have not been used before. I am currently making my small research on the soundtrack of the movie. Trying to mix tracks that I enjoy etc, see if the result is actually good.
I actually have not made my mind up on the music. The movie's soundtrack will be my main concern for the following days. The only thing I am sure of, is that the movies background music will be deffo instrumental (with no lyrics) and it will propably be something else than psy and/or trance (although I do enjoy a bit of psy-goa myself
)
Quite possibly the mixture-combination I mentioned above, if I manage to achieve a mixing result I enjoy.
